Responding to the needs of businesses shuttered by hurricane Katrina, the commercial division of the Houston Association of REALTORS®, known as Commercial Gateway, has created a special property exchange to get businesses up and running again. The site know as, REbound can be accessed from the Commercial Properties area of or directly at www.CommercialGateway.com.

      Owners or landlords interested in identifying space available for the property can send that information to research@commgate.com. Commercial Brokers and Landlords can participate in this program by:
  • Identifying Office, warehouse and service center space available for immediate occupancy to help get people and business back to work.
  • Spaces included in this program indicate that the landlord is willing to make space available on more flexible and temporary lease terms to aid impacted businesses.
  • Commercial Brokers participating in this program are waiving many traditional fees and are donating a portion of any commission earned in these transactions to hurricane relief efforts.
  • The specific lease terms shall be determined by the commercial broker and the landlords on a property by property basis.
      In describing this program in a conference call among leadership of the Houston Association of REALTORS®, Commercial Chairman Fred Baca said "These are our neighbors just down I-10; Katrina could have easily veered to the west and hit Houston. Helping to get New Orleans and the affected portions of Mississippi and Alabama back in business is the right the thing to do."
